Niger State Police Commissioner Ogundele J. Ayodeji has directed massive deployment of Police personnel and operational assets across the state to provide adequate security before, during and after the Yuletide in the state.

He stated this in a statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun in Minna, saying that the deployment of officers will prevent any untoward incident during the period.

The statement explained: “The CP gave the directive to officers during his monthly conference with HODs/Area Commanders and DPOs today being 21st December 2022 at Police Officers’ Mess, Minna.

“He further directs Tactical Commanders, Area Commanders and DPOs to deploy men to public places, worship centres and other recreation centres to avoid any untoward incident”.

Ayodeji enjoined officers to strictly comply with operation orders drawn for the season and ensure high visibility policing across the highway in the state for adequate security of travellers and free flow of traffic for road users.

According to him: “In addition to township patrol the show of force [is] to serve as a deterrent for potential hoodlums and quick rapid response for intervention in case of any incident.”

He, however, urged members of the public to be law-abiding before, during and after the Yuletide and continue to support the police with adequate information towards ensuring a peaceful environment.

He then assured of the continued commitment of the command in providing security, maintenance of law and order and protection of lives and properties among other duties, while wishing residents and the Christian faithful Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
