Christian Eriksen is set to decide on his future in the coming days, as he considers offers from Manchester United and Brentford which would keep him in the Premier League.

That is according to Sky Sports News, who say the Denmark international is weighing up his options after being approached by the Red Devils, who are now coached by Erik ten Hag after he replaced Ralf Rangnick.

30-year-old Eriksen made a remarkable return to full-time football with Brentford earlier this season. He signed for the Bees in January, and delivered a string of impressive performances with Thomas Frank’s side, who are interested in keeping him.

The spell with Brentford was a remarkable turnaround for Eriksen, whose career an athlete seemed to be over after he suffered a cardiac arrest during last summer’s EURO 2020 fixture between Denmark and Finland.

Eriksen’s life was saved by the quick reaction of team-mate Simon Kjaer and the Danish national team’s medical staff. Having been fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator device, he left Inter Milan and trained under Ten Hag with former club Ajax before agreeing his short-term deal with Brentford.

Now Sky Sports insists Eriksen is choosing between remaining with the Bees, or accepting United’s more financially lucrative offer.

‘Both clubs have made him very good offers – but United’s is thought to be more financially lucrative,’ the report explains. ‘Working again with Erik ten Hag, with whom he trained at Ajax before his return to football, as part of United’s anticipated new era has its attractions.

‘But sources close to the midfielder say he and his family are settled in London and have reservations about relocating to the northwest.’

United have already lost Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic from their midfield on free transfers this summer, and have been heavily linked with a move for Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong.
