Chinese company Takes Over Nigerian League

Nigerian League governing body, the League Management Company (LMC) has officially confirmed reports of a speculated $200 million-worth TV broadcast rights deal (the highest in Africa) for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) this season.

The LMC claimed that the circulating information of the a multi-million dollars broadcast deal with Chinese business entity, NEXT TV was true and that all 20 clubs of the NPFL have been briefed about the 5-year deal worth over $200 million in ‘Projected’ income and other commercial inflows.

“The details of the contract will be discussed at a later time. We just briefed the clubs on the projects we have.

“We will announce, officially on a later date the full details of the deal.

“We have gotten very positive reviews from the clubs and they have agreed on the steps we’re taking and are happy with what’s on ground.” Shehu Dikko, chairman of the LMC said in an interview.

The 2019/20 NPFL season that was call off after match day 25 due to the coronavirus global pandemic had South Africa’s Supersport as its official TV partner until its pulled off in 2016.
