Dortmund’s arrived 30 minutes later than planned at the ground and there was some confusion over what was happening with the kick-off time.
Edin Terzic, manager of the Bundesliga club, was being interviewed on pitch just over half an hour before the planned kick-off at 8pm, when he said he didn’t know whether the match had been pushed back.
‘We had a bit of a delay, but now we are here, we are ready and we are going to fight for the next round,’ Terzic told BT Sport.
‘Still we didn’t know if we are going to start on time or if there’s going to be a delay with the kick-off, this is what they haven’t told us so far.
‘We’ve been at the stadium for 15 minutes, of course it is disturbing, a lot, but this won’t stop us today.’
Terzic was then informed that the match has indeed been delayed by 10 minutes and will kick-off at 8.10pm in west London.
Dortmund won the first leg 1-0 in Germany, setting up the second contest beautifully after a good performance from Chelsea away from home.
Graham Potter has fielded a back three of Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella, with Reece James and Ben Chilwell at wing-back.
Matteo Kovacic and Enzo Fernandez take the middle of the park, with Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix and Kai Havertz up front.
Speaking ahead of the game and on their in-form opponent, Potter said: ‘It is a fantastic opportunity for us and a great game to be involved in. It’s half-time, we’re 1-0 down, so we need to respond and I think these players can do that.
‘In terms of what we learned from the previous game, we’re meeting a top opponent. You can see their results in the Bundesliga. They’re in a fantastic vein of form. Winning games constantly, 10 in a row.
‘It’s a good challenge for us, but we’re excited for it and we’re looking forward to it. The position we’re in, we should always welcome the pressure. Because it means you’re in a fantastic situation, which is to compete for the last eight of the Champions League.
‘It’ll be a special night. It was a special occasion in Dortmund and I’m sure it will be the same at Stamford Bridge.’
