Chelsea have no interest in selling Levi Colwill this summer and view the defender as a potential club captain for the future.

Bayern Munich have expressed a strong interest in Colwill and recent reports suggested the Bundesliga giants had held initial discussions over a move for the 21-year-old.

Bayer Leverkusen and Germany centre-back Jonathan Tah is also being pursued by Bayern, with the club determined to strengthen at the back in the wake of Vincent Kompany’s arrival as head coach.

However, according to The Athletic, Bayern will likely be forced to explore other avenues away from Colwill given Chelsea deem the centre-half – who joined them at Under-9 level – ‘untouchable’.

It’s claimed Chelsea recognise that Colwill is ‘an elite Cobham talent and a possible future club captain’ and the England international will not be sold under any circumstances before the summer transfer deadline.

The Blues believe Colwill could command a fee of as much as £100million but the defender is not for sale and the Stamford Bridge outfit expect him to ‘blossom into England’s best centre-back’ over the coming years.

Colwill returned from an impressive loan spell at Brighton to feature 32 times in all competitions for Chelsea last season, making 20 starts in the Premier League.

Brighton had been keen to sign Colwill on a permanent basis, making a £30m offer for his signature last summer, but the Seagulls were told in no uncertain terms that the youngster would not be sold.

Colwill went on to put pen to paper on a long-term deal in west London, typing him to to Chelsea until 2029.

‘I’ll speak to my family, speak to everyone I need to and make a decision,’ he told The Times before signing the contract.

‘I’ve got to play at the end of the day to hopefully get there and go to the next camp.’

Chelsea have spent in excess of £1billion on new recruits since Todd Boehly’s takeover in 2022 and are preparing for another busy summer of comings and goings.

It’s understood the club are prioritising a move for a centre-forward to ease the load on Nicolas Jackson next season, with the Senegal international scoring 17 goals across a mixed debut campaign at Stamford Bridge last term.

Benjamin Sesko had been identified as Chelsea’s top target in attack but the 21-year-old Slovenian decided to commit his future to RB Leipzig earlier this month, meaning the Blues have been forced to assess other options.

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, 20, and Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion, 20, are both on Chelsea’s radar as possible solutions up front.
