Chelsea have been dealt a welcome injury boost after three key players were spotted back in first-team training on Monday.

The Blues have made a bright start under new boss Enzo Maresca and sit third in the Premier League heading into the busy festive period.

But Maresca’s side have spent the international break dealing with several injury issues following their 1-1 draw with Arsenal prior to the interval.

Malo Gusto and Romeo Lavia were both forced off in the closing stages at Stamford Bridge, with neither featuring for their national teams over the break.

Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill, meanwhile, both finished the ninety minutes against Arsenal but later withdrew from the England camp with knocks.

And Wesley Fofana was another who played no part for his country this international break as he dealt with pain in his knee following the Arsneal clash.

However, as Chelsea hit the training pitches on Monday, Maresca was no doubt pleased to be joined by Palmer and Colwill who both took part in training.

And there was a further boost with Jadon Sancho also spotted in training having played no part in Chelsea’s last six games in all competitions.

Having provided three assists in his first three games, Sancho was an unused substitute against Panathinaikos and Newcastle.

The 24-year-old was then not named in the matchday squad for the following four games due to a mixture of injury, illness and an inability to play against his parent club, Manchester United.

But his presence on the training pitches at Cobham suggest that the Englishman is in contention to make his return when Chelsea face Leicester City on Saturday.

The Blues will be keen to extend their three-match unbeaten run in the league.

Their opponents, meanwhile, will look to get back to winning ways after three defeats in their last four matches in all competitions.
