After Mason Mount was ruled out ahead of kick-off, both Sterling and Pulisic were forced off before half-time during Thursday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Graham Potter now has 10 members of his squad unavailable with Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy, N’Golo Kante, Armando Broja and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all unavailable as part of the injury crisis engulfing the club.
Chelsea are eager to strengthen this month having already signed Ivorian striker David Datro Fofana from Molde, confirming the arrival of defender Benoit Badiashile on Thursday.
The club are also targeting Shakhtar Donetsk star Mudryk, who is also Arsenal’s top transfer target this month.
Blues owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are confident of outbidding the Gunners, who have already seen one offer for the winger rejected this month.
And with injuries in attacking positions mounting this week, the Daily Telegraph report it could increase Chelsea’s interest in getting a deal done.
Mudryk however has made no secret of his desire to join Premier League leaders Arsenal.
While Chelsea have held positive discussions with Shakhtar over a potential deal, reports suggest the Ukraine international would opt for Mikel Arteta’s side if given the choice. Shakhtar are holding out for a £85million deal for their prized asset.
Sterling was forced off inside five minutes against City with Pulisic following shortly after. Mount meanwhile picked up a knock in training on Wednesday that ruled him out against the defending champions.
Potter told Sky Sports post-match: ‘It was a much better performance, when you consider everything… losing Raheem and Pulisic early. I’m proud of the players in terms of everything they gave.
‘It’s tough at the moment, I must admit. I feel for the boys, of course. We have to stick together, it’s one of those times. For their goal, I thought we committed too many men too high to press them, and then you have to credit their quality. I think Kepa and Marc thought each other could have dealt with it.
‘You hope that people look the whole context and perspective and see exactly what we’ve been through and what we’ve had to deal with.
‘At the same time, emotions are high, that’s how it is. You have to ride out any storm and stay level. I think the crowd today appreciated the performance, our support has been fantastic.’
