Chelsea contract rebel Mason Mount rejected a £200,000-a-week offer to extend his current deal before jetting off to the World Cup with England.

The 23-year-old’s priority is to remain at his boyhood club but he seeking parity with the club’s top earner, Raheem Sterling, who penned a £300,000-a-week deal after joining from Manchester City in the summer.

Owner Todd Boehly made it a priority to resolve the futures of Chelsea’s outstanding young academy graduates upon assuming control of the club earlier this year.

Reece James signed a new contract in September but Mount’s situation remains unresolved and with just 18 months left on his contract rival clubs are beginning to circle.

According the Daily Mail, Liverpool, who will look to overhaul their ageing midfield in the summer, are watching the situation carefully along with Italian giants Juventus, who have a history of signing high-profile free agents.

Mount is hopeful that several eye-catching performances in Qatar for the Three Lions will enhance his value and force Chelsea’s hand, or put him in the shop window and boost his chances of earning a lucrative deal elsewhere.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have successfully extended the contract of another academy graduate, Trevoh Chalobah, who penned a new long-term deal earlier this week.

‘I’m over the moon to sign this contract,’ Chalobah told Chelsea’s official website.

‘It’s been an honour every time I put the shirt on. I want to give my all and do anything for this club.

‘As everyone knows I’ve been here from a young age and to continue here is every kid’s dream. Whenever I get the chance, I’ll give my all for the club and look for the future ahead.

‘I want to say thanks to God for this, without him none of this would be possible. And just always believing. Thanks to my family as well and the club for trusting in me. I’ll now continue to give my all.’
