Charli and Dixie D’Amelio have spoken about promoting positive mental health and their attitudes towards online trolls, saying they ‘don’t get fazed by comments anymore’.

The ‘First Family of TikTok’ have become some of the most popular stars on social media over recent times.

Their rise has led to trolling in the past, but the girls have learned how to foster a healthy attitude.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other gathered press, Dixie spoke honestly about feedback online and said: ‘I don’t really get fazed by comments anymore.’

‘I still read them,’ she said, adding: ‘But something snapped one night and it really doesn’t affect me anymore.’

The pair were speaking ahead of the first season of the The D’Amelio Show, with Charli, Dixie and their mom Heidi and dad Marc set to open up their world to fans.

Speaking about being open about their mental health on their various platforms, Dixie added: ‘I feel like it’s super important to talk about mental health.

‘We want to figure out how to help ourselves. And that’s kind of what we’re learning and how to get through this journey.’

Discussing the more challenging aspects of finding fame over recent years, Charli said: ‘I think the only thing is sometimes you get down. Sometimes you don’t want to talk.

‘I feel like for me, especially as someone that tends to be more anxious when talking to people, I feel like that adjustment has been extremely difficult.

‘I’m learning every day how to do this. And I feel like that’s what the show really shows because it’s us figuring out how to do this and going through the challenges, but also going through the really amazing part.’

Charli and Dixie’s parents play a big part in the new TV series, and they’re a pair that the girls have always leaned upon and asked for guidance.

Charli added: ‘I’m not perfect at this, and I’ve never claimed to be. So I mean, it does get stressful at times. But I think at the end of the day, I have people that will always love me and always support me and I’m I have them no matter what.’

And what do their parents think?

Dad Marc said: ‘Our job as parents is to protect them and sometimes you have to protect them from themselves. You’ve got to know when to push a little bit and when to back off.

‘I have to look at them 10 years from now. And we have to look at them in the face and say, “Hey, did we do the best job as parents navigating through this incredible opportunity?”

‘And it’s something we’re learning every day. I think it’s just love and support and I think that’s the groundwork to help them throughout this process.’

The D’Amelio Show arrives on Hulu on September 3.
