Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have qualified for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
The newly-crowned Ligue 1 champions progressed to the last four despite a 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa on Tuesday. PSG had secured a 3-1 victory in the first leg at the Parc des Princes last week.
At Villa Park, they surged into a two-goal lead, courtesy of goals from Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes. However, the hosts mounted a spirited comeback. Youri Tielemans’ effort was deflected in, before captain John McGinn curled in a sublime strike. Ezri Konsa’s composed finish proved to be the final goal of the evening, as PSG advanced with a 5-4 aggregate score.
In the other quarter-final, Barcelona were beaten 3-1 by Borussia Dortmund but progressed to the semi-finals with a 5-3 aggregate.
PSG will face the winner of the Real Madrid vs Arsenal tie, while Barcelona will take on the victor of Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich.
