Cesc Fabregas has issued a word of warning to Arsenal ahead of their clash with lowly Sheffield United, reminding Mikel Arteta’s players that ‘these games win titles’.

There were huge question marks over Arsenal’s title credentials as the club suffered a severe dip in form over a rocky winter period, but the Gunners have rediscovered their form, winning their last six games on the trot in the Premier League.

The north London giants have scored four or more goals in each of their last three matches – against West Ham, Burnley and Newcastle – and would move to within two points of leaders Liverpool with victory at Bramall Lane.

Their opponents, Sheffield United, sit rock-bottom of the table with only three wins to their name this season and the cracks were evident in the side’s defeat to Wolves last time out, as Jack Robinson and Vinicius Souza almost came to blows at Molineux.

However, ex-Arsenal captain Fabregas has urged his former club not to underestimate the Blades, despite their current predicament, as these are the kinds of matches that may prove pivotal in the context of the title race.

Discussing the mental toll of competing in a title race, Fabregas told the Planet Premier League podcast: ‘It shouldn’t [affect the players] but unfortunately, mentally, it works this way.

‘I see Arsenal at the moment as too strong. I see them confident.

‘I know they lost against Porto, but I think in the Premier League nowadays they are two levels up and I believe that they know exactly what they’re doing.

‘I’m sure they believe, and they’re pushing from the staff point of view to win this game more than anything because these games win titles.

‘It’s very different to go in my day to Stoke City on Saturday three o’clock then Monday night football,” he added.

‘We go back to perceptions, to the humidity, the night time to approach the games, the travelling, the long wait for the game, these little things, knowing exactly what the opponents have done.’

While Fabregas hopes Arsenal are wary of the threat posed by a wounded Sheffield United, he expects Arteta’s men to be a ‘little bit too strong’ for the opposition.

‘I see Arsenal a little bit too strong to be dropping points there,’ the two-time Premier League winner added.
