Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is not giving much away ahead of the trip to Leicester City on the fitness of his players.

Forest’s win over Crystal Palace on Monday night continued their impressive start to the Premier League campaign, seeing them climb to eighth in the table.

The Tricky Trees have lost just once in eight league games this campaign and will be hoping to keep up that good form when they go to the King Power on Friday night.

It is a quick turnaround from Monday to Friday and the Forest boss says players are recovering, but would give little away on who is ready to play against the Foxes.

‘We are still assessing, it was a tough game, one day to go, players are recovering, we are still assessing,’ Espirito Santo told a press conference on Thursday.

Hudson-Odoi came off late in the win over Palace with a knock but is expected to be available, while Gibbs-White was suspended for that game but has also been dealing with an injury.

On Gibbs-White, the Forest boss said: ‘It is a day-by-day process so let’s see how he is. He is better today, so let’s hope he is even better tomorrow and keeps progressing, like all the players.’

Forest do have two longer-term injury issues, with Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare remaining sidelined.

As for Leicester City, former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper will be without Jannik Vestergaard, Jakub Stolarczyk, Patson Daka and Hamza Choudhury.

Cooper said: ‘Jannik had a recurrence with his ankle that ruled him out of Southampton. That was a setback for him. It shouldn’t rule him out for too long but it was a bit of a pity.

‘The guys who have been out for a longer period are getting closer. Pato has been on the grass and has been progressive with his rehab. He seems to be getting closer.’

The Foxes have made a steady start on their return to the Premier League, with nine points from their first eight games, already six points clear of the relegation zone.
