Call off strike for masses’ sake – Ooni’s wife begs resident doctors

As the strike embarked upon by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, enters day 11, the wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Naomi Ogunwusi, has appealed to the doctors to call off the industrial action in view of the covid-19 situation in the country.

According to her, it was imperative for doctors to consider the health standard of the citizenry because their action could lead to loss of lives, adding that any life lost would never be regained.

Olori Ogunwusi made the appeal while presenting items to mothers and their newly born babies at a private hospital in Akure, Ondo State

On August 2, NARD down tools over welfare and other conditions of service of members.

While emphasizing that the work of medical doctors are sacred, she said that “the profession is beyond money.

“It is about fulfilment and I will just encourage our resident doctors to call off their strike for the sake of the common man in this country.”

Olori Ogunwusi also appealed to the government to listen to the cries of the striking doctors at ending the strike in the interest of the common man.

“Our government should also do something about the strike urgently, since in any sector of the government, the health sector is very important, it is how you treat doctors they will also treat patients.”
