Bolivian President, Luis Arce, has insisted that democracy must be respected after troops stormed Bolivia’s government palace on Wednesday amid a coup attempt.
Troops with armored vehicles had rammed into the doors of Bolivia’s government palace Wednesday.
Reacting to the development, Arce, in a message on his X account, denounced the irregular mobilization of some units of the Bolivia Army.
“We denounce irregular mobilization of some units of the Bolivia Army.
“Democracy must be respected,” Arce tweeted.
Newspot reports that this is coming as Bolivian television showed two tanks and a number of men in military uniform in front of the government palace.
Meanwhile, former Bolivian President, Evo Morales, also in a message on X, denounced the movement of the military in the Murillo square outside the palace, calling it a coup “in the making.”
