The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a resolution to investigate the circumstances that led to the killing of Barrister Bolanle Raheem by a police officer in Lagos.
The lawyer was shot dead by a trigger-happy police officer in the Ajah area of Lagos State on Christmas Day.
Concerned Nigerians have continued to react to the unfortunate incident, lamenting the incessant killing and unprofessionalism by some police officers in the country.
At Wednesday’s plenary, the House of Representatives resolved to ensure that the officer involved is prosecuted with a view to getting justice and stopping officers from taking alcohol while on duty.
The House earlier observed a minute’s silence for the deceased.
The motion for the resolution was moved by a member representing Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Lagos State, Ibrahim B Obanikoro.
