The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the 2023 Benue South Senatorial election, Comrade Daniel Onjeh has expressed relief over the removal of Austin Agada as state chairman of the party.
Onjeh had alleged that Agada was involved in anti-party activities during the 2023 election.
The APC chieftain claimed that Agada sabotaged his victory by allegedly working for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Abba Moro.
He subsequently petitioned the National Working Committee of the party led by Abdullahi Ganduje, seeking Agada’s removal.
The allegation led to the suspension of Agada by the state governor, Hyacinth Alia who appointed Hon. Benjamin Omale as acting chairman.
However, Agada, who has the backing of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, rejected his suspension.
The development worsened the leadership crisis rocking the ruling party in Benue State, creating two factions, one led by Benjamin and another led by Agada.
The leadership crisis was, however, laid to rest on Wednesday when the national leadership of the party, led by Ganduje finally sacked Agada and constituted a seven-member caretaker committee to be led by Benjamin Omale for the period of six months.
Reacting, Onjeh in a post on his official Facebook page, expressed delight over Agada’s removal.
Onjeh asserted that “though justice was delayed, it was finally served”.
According to him, “the chairman who heartlessly sabotaged my 2023 Benue South Senatorial election has finally been booted out, seven months after I petitioned the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over his ant-party activities”.
