England fans settled down in front of the TV on Monday morning to cheer on the Lionesses in their Women’s World Cup Round of 16 clash with Nigeria.

However, the quality of the BBC’s coverage didn’t quite match the quality on display from Sarina Wiegman’s team in Brisbane.

Frustrated fans took to social media to complain that the TV commentary was a fraction ahead of the pictures.

The issue seemed to affect those watching on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Gabby Logan, who was on presenting duties for the BBC, made no mention of the audio issues during the half-time break.

Luckily, the issue didn’t appear to affect everybody – with many oblivious to the audio challenges endured by their fellow England supporters.

Such is the distance between the UK and Australia, there was also some gremlins when Logan spoke to England reporter Jo Currie, who was pitchside, during the interval.

The Nigeria clash was the second England game of the tournament to be shown on the BBC, following the 1-0 group stage victory over Denmark.

The other two matches, against Haiti and China, were shown instead on ITV.

Fans will be keen to ensure that, in the event that England do indeed beat Nigeria, their quarter-final clash will be free of any technical gremlins.

Their potential last eight clash would take place on Saturday, August 12 at 8am BST.

The Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane would be the venue for the fixture.
