The German champions eased to an emphatic 6-1 win over Werder Bremen on Tuesday evening, a result that moves them four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.
Mane’s injury overshadowed the result however with the former Liverpool star going down with a knee injury that required treatment after just 15 minutes.
He was replaced by former Man City star Leroy Sane, heading straight down the tunnel for further treatment.
His injury will prompt fears over his participation in the World Cup with Senegal getting their campaign underway on 21 November against Netherlands, before taking on Qatar and Ecuador in their final group games.
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann is expecting a further update on his condition on Wednesday.
‘I didn’t see him after the game, I hope it’s not a big injury. But I don’t know at the moment, the Bayern boss said. ‘We’ll see tomorrow and then give an update.’
Bayern’s assistant coach Dino Toppmöller offered a slightly more positive update, however.
He told journalists after the game: ‘He got hit on the nerve in the knee area. Apparently, it’s nothing that bad.’
Mane will be hopeful of avoiding an ever-growing list of star names who will miss the World Cup through injury.
Defending champions France will be without two lynchpins of their 2018 success in N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba with Raphael Varane carrying a knock heading into the competition.
Germany will be without Timo Werner while Diogo Jota and Pedro Neto will have no role to play in Portugal’s campaign.
England meanwhile will be without Ben Chilwell with Reece James, Kyle Walker also doubts.
