Bauchi new police boss resumes, assures of proactive operational model

The new Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Umar Mamman Sanda, on Monday assumed office with the assurance of deploying a proactive operational model to police the state.

Sanda, who took over from CP Sylvester Abiodun Alabi, now posted to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, warned that the police under his leadership would neither condone indolence from any personnel nor tolerate any act of corruption in whatever form.

The new CP warned that anyone caught would not be spared no matter who he may be.

While stressing that security is teamwork and citizen-based, Sanda assured that the state police command would continue to collaborate with other sister agencies to effectively police the state.

He said the command would not go out of the agenda set by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba, insisting that, “All we will do is to ensure that the focus is not lost. Our determination is to ensure that the police acts as the true friend it is to the public.”

The new Bauchi State police chief told the people of the state to cooperate with the police, saying they cannot be everywhere at the same time due to the shortage of personnel.

The police need information to be able to make a headway. Let members of the public volunteer information that will lead to curbing of criminal headway across the state.”

He, however, assured that the state command would continue to do its best to respond to distress calls with minimum delays considering the terrain of the state.

Sanda also solicited the cooperation of the media, saying, “with you as partners, the police will be able to sit up and do what is expected.

“We are partners in progress and we must create a synergy to be able to work together for the good of the society. Criticise us when necessary constructively and let us know where we are not doing well.”
