Nigeria’s youngest ever boxing Champion, Raheem ‘Badoo’ Animashaun on Boxing Day at the Tafawa Balewa Square remained unbeaten with a fifth round technical knockout over arch-rival Hammeed ‘Ese’ Ganiyu in the 32nd edition of GOtv Boxing night.\

Badoo had gotten a knock down of Ese in the 3rd round before a sucker punch made the tooth guard of Badoo to fly out forcing Ref Adesanya to stop the bout for Badoo to get his tooth guard back. Ese is a Yoruba word for Boxer.

Badoo (141.5Ibs) look good to take the night by storm from Ese (145.5Ibs) from the 2nd of the scheduled 10 round bout of the 63.5 Kg category fight with devastating body punches and straight ones to the face of Ese who blocked with elbows every time and the punches made blood to drip down the face of Ese from a deep cut.

When the 5th round was 1minute 45 seconds to finish, Ref Adesanya called in the ring Doctor to examine Ese and see if he was fit to continue. As he resumed within five seconds, the Ref stopped the bout giving victory to Badoo.

The decision did not go down with the corner of Ese whose protest that their ward could continue the fight was not regarded by Ref Adesanya. Ese initially walked out of the ring, came back and moved out immediately the ring Annoncer, Gbenga Adeyinka announced the winner.

Thus Badoo who won as the Best Boxer in May 2024 Edition carting home the Moji Ogunsanya Trophy and N1m made and encore in Lagos on Thursday Boxing Day.

Raheem Badoo Animashaun the West African Boxing Union (WABU) Champion got a record of 6Kos in 12 fights with no loss while Hammeed Ese Ganiyu has 4 win, 7 loses and no draw in 11 bouts.

Speaking after the bout, Badoo told Ese to be gentlemanly with his protest promising that if he can approach his camp, he would oblige him with a rematch. Badoo is being trained by his father who was a former Boxer like Mayweather Jnr was handled by his father before his uncle became his trainer.

GOtv has been promoting professional and Amateur Boxing fights in Nigeria for years. It was a night of music and boxing and three Gotv decoders were offered to winners of a draw at the event.
