Babangida advocates Northern unity to address regional challenges

Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has emphasized the critical need for unity in Northern Nigeria as a means to address the region’s numerous challenges.

Babangida made this statement while receiving officials of the Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative (NSYEI) at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State.

The delegation, led by former Sokoto State Governor and Chairman of the movement’s Board of Trustees, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, included Co-chairperson Hajiya Naja’atu Mohammed and Director-General Dr. Abdullahi Idris.

“Unity is the key to overcoming the North’s challenges,” Babangida stated, praising the establishment of the Northern Star movement as a timely and commendable initiative.

Alhaji Bafarawa, in his remarks, highlighted the movement’s mission, noting that it was founded to foster unity in the North and advocate for the region’s legitimate interests.

Hajiya Naja’atu Mohammed and Dr. Abdullahi Idris echoed the importance of unity, emphasizing that solidarity among the North’s diverse peoples is essential for the region to effectively pursue its objectives within Nigeria’s federal structure.
