Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to go tough on insecurity in Borno if elected.

The former vice president lamented the condition of the North-East, Lake Chad Basin, and the “exorbitant” taxation policy in the state.

Atiku spoke on Wednesday while addressing PDP supporters at the Ramat Square in Maiduguri, the capital.

He and his entourage earlier visited the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garba, who demanded focus on certain areas if Atiku wins.

At the campaign ground, the standard bearer gave details of his discussion with the monarch.

“He requested us to attend to about four or five issues that are the problems in Borno.

”One is to restore peace and security. By the grace of God, we shall restore peace and order in Borno state.

”Secondly, he requested us to make sure that we reactivate the Chad Basin development so that farmers can go back to the farm.”

Atiku revealed that the Shehu also sought intervention regarding electricity in local government areas.

The PDP flagbearer said the people were tired of hunger, insecurity and unemployment.

“Enough of suffering and enough of too much taxation”, the Wazirin Adamwa added.

Atiku thanked the residents for trooping out to receive the campaign train which came under attack.

In response, the PDP declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) sponsored the thugs to ambush its convoy.
