England forward Ollie Watkins has signed a new long-term contract with Aston Villa, the club have announced.
The new deal will keep him at Villa Park until 2028 and caps of a memorable week for the player, who scored a brilliant hat-trick against Brighton last Saturday and was recalled by his national team on Thursday.
It was reported two weeks ago that Watkins was close to agreeing new terms, with Unai Emery keen to tie down his talisman amid interest from Premier League rivals.
Manchester United were interested in the 27-year-old over the summer, while Arsenal and Chelsea were recently linked with the prolific star.
Watkins joined Villa from Brentford in 2020 for a then club-record £28million, and has since scored 50 goals and made 16 assists in 128 appearances.
His game has gone to new heights under Emery who has transformed the side from relegation battlers to European contenders in less than a year.
