The Dean of Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Archbishop of the Province of Niger Delta and Bishop of Ikwerre Diocese the Most Rev’d Blessing Enyindah Ph.D has advocated for true independence of the Nation and her populace.
He made this advocacy in a sermon he delivered on Sunday 29th September, 2024 at the Inter-denominational Church Thanksgiving Service organized by the Rivers State Government as part of activities marking the 64th Independence Day Celebration of Nigeria at St. Paul’s Cathedral Diobu, PortHarcourt.
Having read from the bible book of Joshua 23:1-10, the Dean, who spoke on the topic “Navigating the odds in our Nation Nigeria” remarked that our Nation seemed like a country under a siege wherein its citizens are held up as captives with no hope brighter than noonday to expect.
Archbishop Enyindah blamed leaders across sectors, particularly political leaders for the nation’s woes because, according to him, instead of liberating the people from social, economic and political imprisonment, they rather accentuate poverty, economic hardship, hyperinflation and hunger in the land.
In advocating for true independence of the people of Nigeria, the dean said ” if political leaders stop enacting irrelevant policies that create chaos, resist the temptation of perpetuating themselves in office, and judicial officers breaking away from issuing conflicting judgments that promote miscarriage of justice, a new culture where everybody does what is right will emerge, and Nigeria will truly become the country it should be where no one will be oppressed..:”
The Dean of Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion prayed and wished Nigeria well at her 64th Independence Anniversary. The political and religious crème de la crème were present in the service.
