Arsenal star Kai Havertz has been left furious after missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City on Sunday, labelling it as ‘not fair’.

Havertz scored an 89th-minute winner against Everton on the final day of the season but it was not enough as City cruised to victory over West Ham.

Pep Guardiola’s side still have a cloud hanging over them amid 115 alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, which City have always denied.

Amid the 115 charges, City have been dominant in the Premier League, and have become the first English side to lift the trophy four seasons in a row.

Speaking after City were confirmed as champions for 2023-24, Havertz told TNT Sports: ‘Right now I can’t think about that. Sometimes it’s not fair in football but we have to accept it.

‘Football is hard. But hopefully we can go again next year and give Arsenal fans what they deserve. But I can tell them next year we are going to be even better team, and we are going to give everything again.

‘What can I say, I feel so sorry for the Arsenal fans, for us, it wasn’t enough. Maybe in two or three months we can say it was a good fight but right now I feel like we deserved more. It was not to be the end but we go again next year.’

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has vowed that the north Londoners will ‘push to win everything’ next season.

‘I think we’re all a little bit disappointed at the moment,’ Odegaard said. ‘We’ve been fighting for so long and we’re so close.

‘But at the same time I’m so proud of the boys, everyone at the club, the fans. I’m so proud of the progress we’re making.

‘When I first came here until today, it’s a big difference. We’ve changed the club. I think you’re all believing us now.

‘We’re on a good wave, We were closer than last year. Now we need to use the break to come back even stronger next year. We’re going to push to win everything.’

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, spoke to the crowd and added: ‘All this is happening because you started believing. You were patient. All the credit has to go to the players and the staff. They are unbelievable.’
