Mikel Arteta says he’s ‘really happy’ with the way in which Gabriel Jesus has settled at the club after the Brazilian scored his third goals in two games for the Gunners following his £45million move to the Emirates.

Jesus was on the scoresheet as Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 in Maryland on Saturday night and he had a hand in setting up Bukayo Saka for his effort.

The Brazilian scored twice on his debut last week and he’s already looking an astute purchase.

Arteta was already fully aware of Jesus’ quality having worked with the striker at Manchester City but the Brazilian’s all-round game has progressed since the Spaniard’s departure.

And Arteta admits he’s been delighted with the way in which Jesus has settled into his new surroundings, saying he ‘loves’ the Brazilian’s attitude and the way he ‘creates chaos’.

‘He looks really sharp, really dynamic. (He’s got) a really good understanding with his team-mates straight away,’ said Arteta.

‘They are looking for him, he’s generating chances, good connections around specific spaces we want to exploit with him especially, and yeah, we’re really happy.

‘He creates chaos, he creates uncertainty and he’s always on your shoulder. He’s always there to nick the ball off you, he’s always in front of the goal. He’s a real threat and this is what we need. And then he’s the one.

‘The moment we give the ball away he is straight away active and putting pressure and getting his team behind him. He has a lot of leadership skills, I can see straight away what he’s doing with the boys and he’s the type of guy that we want.

‘I love those kind of players, streetwise. They learn a lot, they know how to feel, they can take advantage of any situation and that’s what we need.’

Jesus was used as a mixture of a centre forward and a winger during his last 18 months at City but the Brazilian sees his future down the middle.

Arteta agrees that his best position is centrally but says the Brazilian could be used out wide depending on the side’s opponent.

‘Well he’s very versatile, but obviously, the way we would like to develop him, is in that position,’ said Arteta.

‘But not on his own sometimes, but don’t close that door because Gabby in relation to what the opponent does in certain games we are going to have to use him in different positions. He is open to that and he knows it’s part of his strength as well.’
