Martin Keown and Scott Parker believe Kai Havertz was to blame for Arsenal’s winner against Chelsea.
Graham Potter’s side failed to deal with Bukayo Saka’s innocuous corner to allow Gabriel to poke home a second-half winner at Stamford Bridge.
Havertz was guarding the near-post as the corner came in but failed to clear the ball before it also flew past Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy to be met by Gabriel.
While Arsenal’s win sees them return to the top of the Premier League table, Chelsea have now taken just two points from their last four games and are going through their first tricky patch under Thomas Tuchel’s replacement Potter.
On Arsenal’s winner, former Fulham manager Parker told BT Sport: ‘You’re always massively disappointed when you concede from a set-piece.
‘Arsenal are certainly good at scoring set-piece goals and that’s something we prepped for [before Fulham’s 2-1 defeat at the Emirates in August].
‘I don’t know why Havertz has gone so far forward before the corner. If he goes deeper he can come on to it, instead he starts high and then starts running back and then he’s got a lot to deal with.’
Arsenal legend Keown added: ‘Kai Havertz has got to do better there. He swings a lazy leg at that.’
Potter, meanwhile, admitted Chelsea were ‘beaten by the better team’ as they suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats for the first time since 2020.
‘We played against a team in a really good moment, a confident team and you can see the points they have so credit to them,’ he said.
‘The boys gave everything, it was huffing and puffing but missed that last bit. The goal was disappointing, but overall they deserved it.
‘Arsenal are in a good moment and have been working together for a long time with a good understanding of what they want to do.
‘We lacked a bit of quality. The effort was there, we were just beaten by the better team. It was not a great goal from our perspective.
‘It’s an indication of where we are and what we need to do better. Mikel Arteta has done a good job, they are in a good place and we’re slightly different.’
