Lehmann, goalkeeper for Arsenal’s famous Invincibles side, was pictured at the world-famous beer festival in Munich on Sunday.
Police later pulled over the 54-year-old in the early hours of the morning after he left the event in his car.
According to the German publication Bild, Lehmann was staggering and smelled of alcohol when police intervened.
The former German international had his driver’s licence confiscated and was taken to the police station to undergo further tests because he couldn’t complete breath tests.
It came after Lehmann was said to be pictured drinking several steins of beer at the festival with friends as well as dancing on benches in the Schützenfest tent wearing traditional Bavarian dress.
Speaking to The Sun, senior public prosecutor Anne Leiding: ‘Mr. Lehmann was subjected to a police check on September 23, 2024 at around 1:30 a.m. due to his unusual driving behaviour in a car in the inner city area of Munich.
‘The police are said to have noticed a clear smell of alcohol and an unsafe manner.
‘A breath alcohol test did not produce any usable results, whereupon a blood sample was ordered and the driver’s licence was confiscated.
‘Our investigations are still pending. Suspicions of drunk driving continue.’
Lehmann told Bild: ‘I can’t say anything about it at the moment.’
Lehmann is known to be a regular at the event and has been pictured with former teammate Sol Campbell and ex-Chelsea striker Didier Drogba in previous years.
In 2009, he was dropped by German side Stuttgart for partying at the event without permission.
