David Seaman says Manchester City cannot be ruled out of the Premier League title race and is adamant ‘four teams are genuine contenders’.

The legendary Arsenal goalkeeper has argued that his old club – along with City, Chelsea and Liverpool – are all in the hunt for this season’s trophy.

It is a big claim from Seaman given that Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has publicly stated that his team are not in the title race, while many other pundits have ruled out City given their drop-off this season.

Liverpool sit top of the league on 35 points with a game in hand over Chelsea, Arsenal and City – who are second, third and fourth in the table.

The Blues have 31 points, the Gunners are on 29 points while City have racked up 27 points so far with the three sides having played 15 games.

Ahead of the next round of fixtures, Seaman shared his thoughts on the Premier League title race as he told talkSPORT: ‘You look at Man City, OK, the run they are on is not the best.

‘But every team up there, at some stage of the season, has a little blimp or a little wobble. Liverpool have not had theirs yet.

‘City have obviously had quite a big one. Even Arsenal, we had a couple wins where we should’ve won and we didn’t. Chelsea – they are sneaking in there.

‘Well, they’re not sneaking any more, as much as their manager wants to play it down. They are in it.

‘There are four teams who are genuine contenders and I include Man City it that, definitely.

‘We all know what they are like. When they get their players back [from injury]… OK they won’t get Rodri back… but when they have players back, they’re going to be strong.

‘They’re just lacking confidence at the moment but that will come, so beware of that.

‘With Arsenal, the consistency is there. It’s about not getting beat. The three teams below Liverpool will be hoping they have a little wobble.’
