Arsenal legend Cesc Fabregas is hopeful that Tottenham will ‘for once’ do their north London rivals a ‘favour’ when they host Manchester City.

The Gunners are locked in a Premier League title fight with City and they need Pep Guardiola’s men to drop points to have any chance of landing the trophy.

City, one point behind Arsenal, have two top-flight games left as they travel to Spurs before they face West Ham at the Etihad on the final day of the season.

Arsenal currently sit top of the table but they only have one fixture left – against Everton at the Emirates on Sunday – which means City’s fate is in their own hands.

Speaking ahead of City’s clash against Spurs, Fabregas told CBS: ‘Tonight’s game is massive.

‘Let’s see if Tottenham, for once, can do Arsenal a favour. Even a draw would be a fantastic result for Arsenal.

‘So, I am positive (about Arsenal’s title hopes) but it will depend on this game. I’m not saying Come on you Spurs.’

Despite refusing to cheer on Tottenham, when one of the CBS panellists interviewing Fabregas said they would be a ‘Spurs fan for 90 minutes’, the Spaniard could not hide his massive grin and nodded his head in agreement.

Meanwhile, Fabregas has lauded Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and how he has transformed the Gunners into genuine title challengers.

‘Mikel Arteta has done a transformation at the club,’ Fabregas added. ‘I look up to him because it’s something I’m trying to do it here (at Como) as well.

‘I know how difficult it is and how much time it can take. I know the brutal decisions you must take. But he has done so well.

‘So has Edu (Gaspar). A fantastic guy. They understand each other very well. They are growing. They have set up a real structure and DNA. The culture and the training is fantastic.

‘I got my (coaching) A licence there with Jack Wilshere, I could see what was going on. The vibes and the energy was very good. I am very pleased about that.’
