Arsenal hero Lauren sent a personal message to the current squad, offering them some advice ahead of the Premier League title run-in.
The Gunners have taken the title race to the final day of the season, although they are relying on Manchester City to slip up against West Ham to give them a chance of lifting the trophy after they play Everton.
Lauren knows plenty about getting his hands on the Premier League title, having done so twice during his Arsenal playing days, and he has offered some advice to the players trying to conquer the top flight this season.
‘The other day I sent a message to the Arsenal boys where I was saying that in these types of contests your conditioning affects your level of performance week in, week out,’ Lauren told Instantcasinos.com.
‘Because you’re nervous, we all feel a little bit scared, the pressure, and everything that comes with that responsibility – that’s conditioning your level of performance.
‘If you start with that kind of determination, everything is easier. I believe Real Madrid have built that since their academy over many, many years, and all of their players have the determination to fight until the end.’
Arsenal host Everton on Sunday in a game which could ultimately not mean much, or could prove to be one of the most memorable in the club’s history.
Mikel Arteta’s side are two points behind Pep Guardiola’s, but with a superior goal difference, so Manchester City must win if Arsenal beat Everton.
Lauren is backing Arsenal to take care of their side of the deal, having gained valuable experience from last season.
‘You need to control your emotions in order to win the big games,’ he said. ‘Last season for example, against West Ham and Liverpool, they collapsed and couldn’t handle the pressure.
‘Nowadays, we see the team with more control as we saw against Manchester United and many other teams throughout the season. If you control those emotions, it allows you to dominate the back four, the middle of the park and in the final third as we’ve seen all season.’
