Sane, who joined Bayern in a £54.8 million deal from Manchester City in July 2020, has struggled for playing time this season and is yet to start a game in either the Bundesliga or the Champions League.
The 28-year-old is also out of contract at the end of the season, meaning that he could leave Bayern as a free agent next summer.
According to Bild, Sane’s preference is to remain at Bayern but the winger would need to accept a pay cut on his current deal, which is worth in the region of €288,000 (£240,000) a week before bonuses.
It’s claimed that Bayern’s hierarchy are confident that Sane will be able to return to his best following a slow start to the campaign after he required groin surgery in July.
However, Bild report that both Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Sane’s situation with a view to a possible free transfer next summer.
The report claims that Arsenal and United represent a ‘serious option’ for Sane if he fails to reach an agreement over a new deal with Bayern.
Speaking last month, Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, confirmed that talks over a new deal for Sane are ongoing.
‘Now it’s important that Leroy feels comfortable again and can show what he can do on the pitch again,’ Eberl said.
‘We are in open communication with his agent and as soon as there is a decision, we will announce it.’
