Arnold Schwarzenegger has fulfilled his good deed this festive season after donating 25 homes to homeless veterans.
The former California governor shared an Instagram post of his visit to the community in Los Angeles, where he contributed to the residential structures built for those who served the country.
In one of the photos, Arnold, 72, is seen talking to one man who is standing in the doorway of his new home, which features a small fireplace and plenty of windows allowing natural light to flood in. The veteran appears to have added his own touches to the temporary property with a vase of flowers positioned above the fireplace.
Another image shows the Terminator actor standing among several of the ex-veterans while taking a selfie.
Sharing his charitable efforts, Arnold wrote in the caption: ‘Today, I celebrated Christmas early. The 25 homes I donated for homeless veterans were installed here in LA. It was fantastic to spend some time with our heroes and welcome them into their new homes.
‘I want to thank @villageforvets for arranging the homes and being a fantastic partner, @secvetaffairs, @amvetshq and everyone who worked with us and made this possible.
‘We proved that when we all work together, we can solve any problem.’
Village For Vets added: ‘Thank you so much Mr. Governor for your generous donation and your dedication to helping our Veterans in need. Your visit today lifted the spirits of everyone at the VA.’
It’s a cause close to Arnold’s heart as he himself served in Austria’s armed forces as was compulsory when he turned 18.
Saluting the former politician’s work, one Instagram follower commented: ‘Now this is what Christmas is about, giving from heart and with care, compassion, dignity and respect! TY Sir, salute.’
Noticing the interior, one said: ‘The fireplace is why you are a great man What a welcoming home.’
‘That’s amazing. And what Christmas is all about. Bravo, sir,’ another said, while one fan hailed it as a ‘lovely gesture’.
