Armed criminals on Wednesday midnight, broke into one of the female hostels of the Rivers State University, robbed and sexually assaulted some of the students.
Newspot gathered that the criminals who were armed with guns and machetes entered “Hostel D” through the laundry room, where they broke the wall to gain entrance.
Items such as phones, laptops, Point of Sale machines, and other valuables were stolen.
Some reports claim two students were sexually molested but Newspot cannot confirm the exact number of students who were sexually assaulted.
The female students on campus embarked on a protest on Thursday morning, claiming the incident has been recurrent without actions taken to prevent it.
The Chief Security Officer of the school, Acid Ebere arrived at the scene of the protest to plead with the protesting students and assured them that the issue would be addressed.
The CSO is, however, yet to give an official response to journalists.
