In a bold move, Barrister Abiodun Aribisala, the Founder and CEO of the Aribisala Care Foundation, has openly criticized Osun State Governor, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, for his recent allegations against former Governor Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola. Aribisala’s critique centers around claims tying Oyetola to $20 million in financial mismanagement, which he deems unfounded and politically motivated.
Aribisala, an internationally recognized tax consultant and a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, expressed his discontent in a statement, arguing that Governor Adeleke is diverting attention from his responsibilities to the citizens of Osun. He pointed out that Adeleke has been in office for over two years but is only now fabricating allegations against his predecessor as he gears up for re-election.
“Instead of focusing on governance, Governor Adeleke is indulging in what I consider to be political distractions,” Aribisala stated. He further questioned the delay in addressing any legitimate financial issues, suggesting that if there were indeed cases of mismanagement, immediate legal action should have been pursued, rather than making accusations at this juncture.
Drawing comparisons to previous administrations, Aribisala recalled how former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola swiftly prosecuted officials from Chief Bisi Akande’s tenure over fraud allegations, only for them to be exonerated later. He challenged Adeleke on why he has waited so long to raise issues against his predecessor.
Aribisala also hinted that if any petitions should be directed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), they ought to concern Adeleke himself, as he called for accountability in the use of the N2 billion federal government palliative funds allocated to Osun State. He demanded that the Governor provide verifiable proof of the 114 tractors he purportedly purchased for N8 billion, questioning their absence from public service.
Moreover, he criticized Adeleke’s administration for what he termed “deceptive promises,” highlighting the Governor’s commitment to providing boreholes in each of the 332 wards at a price of N14 million per unit, a figure Aribisala deemed unrealistic.
In his statement, Aribisala enumerated several unfulfilled promises from the Adeleke administration, including the disbursement of N518 million to 40 communities for infrastructure development, the Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach aimed at 18,000 beneficiaries, and the enrollment of 3,332 Osun indigenes in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) for five years.
He also addressed the pressing issue of teacher recruitment in the state, revealing that many candidates who underwent screening six months ago are still awaiting employment opportunities. Furthermore, he condemned Adeleke’s decision to dismiss workers hired by the previous administration, deeming it an act of political vendetta that jeopardizes stability and growth in the state.
Concluding his statements, Aribisala urged Governor Adeleke to prioritize governance and meaningful development over political maneuvering as the 2026 elections approach. “The people of Osun State deserve good governance, not a leadership focused on political gimmicks,” he asserted.
This critical stance from Aribisala underscores the growing tension in Osun State’s political landscape as the Governor faces mounting scrutiny over his administration’s performance.
