The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, has suggested that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is not a curse to Nigeria.
Amadi specifically said that the APC is not a curse because it isn’t the regulator of elections in the country. He instead stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission’s, INEC, is the curse.
According to him, neither of the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Labour Party, LP, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, is currently doing anything to change the structure and culture of election management.
The former Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, was replying to an X user who had monitored a review of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s, INEC, compliance with electoral guidelines in the last gubernatorial election in Imo State on Channels TV.
The program featured the ex-Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, as a guest.
“APC is a curse. They didn’t even bother with BVAS. The bastards just wrote results in collusion with compromised or cowed INEC election officers.
“Reject APC,” @Ose Anineh posted on X.
However, Amadi in his response to the post said that the APC isn’t the problem but rather the INEC.
Posting on X, Amadi said: “APC is not a curse. It isn’t the regulator of elections. @inecnigeria is. It’s INEC that is a curse.
“Let’s call it is. The same INEC is warming up to conduct 2027 election. Neither @PeterObi or @atiku is doing anything to change the structure and culture of election management.”
