The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, will on Friday meet with the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Sheriff, and some party stalwarts for a media parley on the 2023 general election.

The development is coming four days after the APC national chairman was mistaken for a man, captured on a viral video, being stripped naked by a mob at the palace of the Emir of Lafia in Nasarawa State.

The speculation was, however, debunked by Adamu’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Malam Nata’ala Mohammed.

A furious Mohammed stated that those peddling the false narration that the victim was the APC national chairman were being mischievous, adding that they were only seeking ‘relevance.’

The man in the viral video has since been identified as the Grand Patron of a pro-democracy group, A A Sule Progressives Forum, Alhaji Abubakar Giza.

Friday’s political roundtable, which is part of the annual lecture series of the party Press Corps, is scheduled to hold at the National Secretariat of the party at 9.00 am.

It will be hosted by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, and chaired by the ex-Borno chairman.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Chairman, Organising Committee of the event, Babatunde Ayeni.

Ayeni disclosed that aside from individual contributions from party chieftains, the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Mr Osita Okechukwu, would give the lead presentation on “The Press; The Public: Critical Agents for Effective Democratic Deliveries in 2023 and beyond.”

“The aim of the roundtable is to improve its cordial relationship with the rank and file of the ruling party for better coverage of party policies and programmes, thereby helping to deepen our democracy,” he said.

The APC Press Corps is the platform for accredited representatives of all the major media organisations covering the activities of the ruling party.
