The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that any centre not properly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) would be derecognised by the Board. This announcement was made by the Registrar, during a virtual meeting with CBT centre owners held at the Board’s National Headquarters, Bwari, Abuja, on Wednesday, 17th April, 2024.In his remarks, the Registrar, JAMB, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, pointed out that it had been observed that many  CBT centres had failed to submit their Certificate of Incorporation as issued by the CAC stating that this document is a legal document affirming the authenticity of their existence as an establishment adding that in most cases the owners submit a name different from their company name as well as different account details to the Board. He said, “Henceforth, no centre would be registered without complete CAC registration. The account details of the centre and the name given to the Board should be the same without any discrepancy.”Similarly, the Board’s helmsman announced that from the 2025 UTME registration exercise, the Board would no longer be issuing registration slips to candidates via their email address as it has been noticed that most centres are abusing this privilege by failing to issue these registration slips to candidates as and when due but are rather using it to extort them. In his words, “JAMB will no longer give registration slips to candidates via email. We used to allow candidates to print as many times as possible, but we would not be allowing that going forward. Candidates are to only get the ones that the centre issued to them at the centre upon the completion of their registration.”He warned centre owners to desist from allowing people who had no integrity to have access to their registration points explaining that only registered authorised personnel should have access to these facilities. Furthermore, he advised centres to weed out corrupt and careless hands while at the same time doing due diligence on persons employed to work with them to ensure that they do not allow bad eggs to seep into their system. According to him, “Employ only competent hands to work with you. Failure to do so is tantamount to creating chaos in your establishment. JAMB would not entertain any incompetence from any centre or its staff during the registration exercise. If it is discovered that a candidate’s data had been mixed up during the course of registration, the erring centre staff and the centre would be fined N5000 and appropriate disciplinary actions would be taken against the centre and the staff.”The Registrar also warned centres to desist from taking the personal details of candidates, either as a favour or otherwise, as this was contrary to extant privacy laws. He said, “Any candidate, who supplies his/her details to anyone including his/her parent to solicit undue favours would be penalised
