There is palpable tension within the Taraba State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the appeal court will tomorrow rule on the suit challenging the party’s governorship candidate for the 2023 election, Kefas Agbu.

The federal high court sitting in Jalingo, had earlier upheld the election of Agbu as the gubernatorial candidate of the party for the state.

Delivering judgement in a case filed by one of the aggrieved aspirants of the party, Professor Jerome Nyameh, the presiding judge, Simone Amobeda, averred that the plaintiff had failed to prove his case before the court.

Nyameh, who doubles as a university don joined other aspirants that jostled for the governorship ticket in the last primary of the party which took place in Jalingo.

Not pleased with the outcome, the aspirants, who approached the federal high court in Jalingo to seek justice, urged the court to disqualify the candidate on the grounds that he did not purchase both the expression of interest and nomination forms.

Not pleased with the ruling of the court, Nyameh went ahead to challenge the federal high court ruling in the appeal court sitting in the neighbouring state of Adamawa.

At the time of filing this report, ruling on the appeal which is scheduled for tomorrow Friday, has been raising dust as the teaming supporters of the duo have been enveloped by palpable tension.

Some of their supporters who bared their minds to Daily Post, said they are eager to see the outcome of the ruling.

Citing that of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that was today laid to rest by the appeal court, that of Agbu and Nyameh, they believed would as well soon be a thing of the past.

A chieftain of the party who spoke with our state correspondent, said “the good thing is the two persons concerned are members of our political party.”

Admitting that “there is already anxiety among our members” the party chieftain who craves anonymity said “whichever way the ruling goes, we shall at the end of the day resolve our differences.”

He urged the party supporters to endeavour to accept the outcome of the ruling that will be delivered tomorrow.
