Amazon Prime have apologised to Premier League manager Arne Slot for an inaccurate claim made after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle United.
Premier League leaders Liverpool played out a thrilling six-goal draw with Newcastle at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.
Following the entertaining fixture, Amazon presenter Dan Walker wrongly implied that Slot had visited referee Andy Madley at half-time to discuss his performance.
It was suggested that Slot, who took over at Anfield over the summer, was unhappy with Madley’s performance after three Liverpool players were shown yellow cards in the opening 45 minutes.
But The Times say it has been confirmed that Slot did not visit the match officials and had merely spoken to Madley in the tunnel in a ‘normal way’ as the teams made their way back out onto the pitch.
Amazon Prime have since admitted their error, blaming the mistake on a production misunderstanding, and contacted Liverpool to apologise to Slot.
Liverpool were 1-0 down at half-time following Alexander Isak’s thumping striker past Anfield goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher ten minutes before the break.
Curtis Jones equalised shortly after half-time but Newcastle restored their lead through former Liverpool transfer target Anthony Gordon.
Two goals in 15 minutes from in-form Mohamed Salah appeared set to take Liverpool to another crucial victory but Fabian Schar hooked home a late equaliser following an error of judgement by Kelleher.
Following the 3-3 classic, Slot said: ‘I have mixed feelings, we were outstanding in the second half but we were not good enough in the first half. Maybe 3-3 is what the game deserved.
‘They were really aggressive and forced us into mistakes but we were so much better in the second half. I knew the game could be changed around, we were much better with the ball.
‘After the week we had, we could change the game which is a very positive thing to take. Every time we need Mo Salah, he scores a goal.
‘We are hoping and expecting he can continue this for a long time. He was outstanding in the second half, he did many special things for us.’
