The Rivers State House of Assembly has condemned the presentation of the 2025 budget by Governor Siminalayi Fubara to the four-member faction led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.
The budget presentation was the theme of the plenary on Tuesday during which the House Judicial Committee led by the Deputy Speaker, Dumle Maol, presented the Court of Appeal judgement which affirmed the legitimacy of the Assembly faction led by Martin Amaewhule.
The deputy speaker then lambasted the governor for disobeying the judgement.
Two other Assembly members also expressed their dissatisfaction with the governor’s action, suggesting the judgement be submitted to security agencies for action.
The Speaker, in his remarks, lamented the penchant of the governor for flagrant disregard for law and order.
Newspot recalls that Governor Fubara, on Monday, presented the 2025 budget proposal of N1.1 trillion to the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led Assembly.
The governor had described the 2025 budget as a blueprint for consolidating the achievements of his administration in the next year, while charting a new course for sustainable development.
While highlighting the performance of the N800 billion 2024 budget, Fubara said that Rivers State recorded significant milestones, especially in economic growth and revenue generation.
