Sacked Adamawa North Senator, Elisha Abbo, has withdrawn his allegation that Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, was behind the Appeal Court ruling that nullified his election.

Abbo disclosed that Akpabio swore by his mother’s grave that he was not behind his removal by the Appeal Court.

He stated this on Arise Television on Wednesday while apologizing to the Senate President.

On Monday, the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal nullified Abbo’s election.

The court declared the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Amos Yohanna, as the winner of the February 25 senatorial election.

Aggrieved by the ruling, Abbo had linked his removal to Akpabio, claiming that the Senate President was after those who worked against his emergence.

Akpabio, however, distanced himself from the appellate court ruling that removed Abbo.

According to Abbo: “I have to say this with all sense of humility and responsibility that the press release we issued yesterday was premature and based on the available information at our disposal yesterday

“As of today, we have discovered a lot of things, and yesterday night I had a discussion with the Senate President, and I am convinced that he is not involved.

Quoting Akpabio, Abbo said: “I swear by my mother’s grave that I’m not involved; I don’t even know that you’re in court.”

He added: “For a number three citizen to come up to tell me that he has sworn on his mother’s grave, a woman that he loves so much, a woman who brought him up after he lost his father at the age of six, I don’t see a reason why he would lie.”
