Two months after injury layoff, Super Eagles and West Bromwich Albion defender, Semi Ajayi, is back to training and could be fit for the mouth watering friendly game between Nigeria and Portugal, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
West Brom manager Carlos Corberan in a quote by Birmingham Mail revealed that the Nigeria international has returned to light training.
Ajayi, who was in fine form for the Baggies prior to his injury, sustained the unfortunate damage to his knee in West Brom’s clash against Wigan Athletic in August.
The injury effectively ruled him out of the Baggies’ last eleven English Championship games.
Corberan has however revealed that the 28-year-old defender is close to full recovery.
“They(Ajayi, Dike, and Bryan) are in the last step of their recoveries, that’s why the physical and medical department moved the players to work with the assistant coaches”, Corberan said.
“They were doing more specific football work, something they couldn’t do before. It means that in a short time we can add more numbers, and more possibilities, to the squad.
“I think they could be available in these final three games before the break]. If everyone progresses how they are doing, before the international break we can have some of these players.”
The news will come as a good music to the hears of Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro as he prepares the three-time Africa champions in a friendly game against Portugal later this month.
The Eagles are set to face the Cristiano Ronaldo and the star-studded Euro 2016 champions in Lisbon on November 17.
