The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has joined the calls for the immediate release of a 500-level student of Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, Aminu Mohammed.
Sowore in a Twitter post on Tuesday expressed surprise that Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, allegedly participated in the torture and assault of Aminu.
Aminu was allegedly arrested on the orders of the wife of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), a few days ago.
Aminu’s parents in a BBC Hausa Service interview had pleaded with the First Lady to order the release of their son considering her status as a mother to the nation.
The AAC presidential candidate wrote, “#FreeAminu It is unbelievable and unprecedented that First Lady Aisha Buhari participated in the torture and assault of Aminu, even fracturing her leg as a result. The poor guy must have suffered internal/external injuries. PoliceNG must release #FreeAminu with immediate effect.”
