In a viral voice note, which Ademola did before his death, he claimed he was attacked by an officer of the Amotekun Corps in front of his parents’ house.

According to him, he was at home and had just finished eating and was about to drink water when he saw his brother, who is an apprentice at a barbing salon, returning home. He said the next thing he knew was that some men barged into their apartment.

Ademola said he inquired about what they were looking for, but they ignored him and instructed him and others in the apartment to move out. It was in this process that he was allegedly shot.

He further stated that he was dragged by the operatives to their office where he was kept in a cell with a dog that was licking the blood from his wound. He said he was taken to the Federal Medical Center in Owo after his condition worsened.

Ademola reportedly died in the hospital on Thursday, June 7.

Protesting the killing of their colleague, the angry youths stormed the state government house with Ademola’s corpse, demanding that the Amotekun officers who allegedly killed him be brought to book.

The students blocked the entrance of the governor’s office and gave the “state government a 24-hour ultimatum to hand over the said officer to the Nigeria police for proper prosecution, take charge of the deceased’s burial, and compensate Ademola’s family.”
