Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has expressed sadness over the petrol tanker explosion that occurred in Agaie Local Government Area, leading to the loss of lives and property.
The Governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, said he is pained by the unfortunate incident and the colossal loss incurred.
He explained that the State Government through the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA and other relevant organisations have been mobilised to the scene of the accident for rescue operations and other necessary actions.
Bago also called for calm by the residents of the affected area and also enjoins road users to always be cautious and abide by road traffic regulations to safeguard lives and property while praying that Allah will repose the souls of the departed and grant quick recovery to those injured.
Recall that over 30 people died in the accident with 50 cattle burnt alive, according to a statement from the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA issued by the Director General, Abdullahi Baba Arab.
He said the incident which occurred on Sunday at 12:30am about 2 kilometres away from Dendo Community in Agaie, headquarters of Agaie local government area, claimed lives of people, burnt cattle and destroyed vehicles.
