Aisha Achimugu, Managing Director and CEO of Felak Concept Group, has re acted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) decision to declare her wanted over alleged money laundering.
On Friday, the anti-graft agency urged anyone aware of her whereabouts to contact them, stating she was wanted for “criminal conspiracy and money laundering.”
In a statement on Sunday, March 30, Achimugu, through her head of media, Bodex Hungbo, said she had received numerous calls and messages from concerned friends and family. She reaffirmed her belief in the rule of law and due process.
“We express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has reached out in concern and solidarity,” the statement reads.
“Your kindness has been a source of strength during this trying period, and it reinforces our faith in our shared humanity and the values that bind us together.
“As a responsible citizen and entrepreneur, Dr. Aisha remains a firm believer in the rule of law and due process and will never do otherwise.
“We trust that these principles and justice will prevail as this matter unfolds. Our business practices have always been grounded in transparency, integrity, and respect for our nation’s laws.
“To our valued business partners, families, professional associates, and well-wishers worldwide, please be assured that she is fully committed to all processes involved as a responsible and law-abiding citizen who has contributed so much to the growth of our Nation as well as being a National Asset.”
Achimugu made headlines in January 2024 when she hosted an extravagant week-long 50th birthday celebration in Grenada, attended by top Nigerian entertainers and a serving governor.
Achimugu was initially summoned to appear at the EFCC’s Port Harcourt office on March 5 over an alleged money laundering case and a high-profile investment scam.
A letter dated March 4, signed by the EFCC’s acting zonal director in Port Harcourt, Adebayo Adeniyi, had requested her presence for questioning.
“This commission is currently investigating a case in which the need to obtain certain clarification from you becomes imperative,” the letter stated.
“In view of the above, you are kindly requested to attend an interview with the undersigned through the Head of Investigation on Wednesday, 5th March 2025, by 10:00 hours prompt.”
However, rather than honouring the summons, Achimugu reportedly left Nigeria on March 6.
Following her alleged departure, the EFCC obtained an arrest warrant and officially declared her wanted.
