Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of Abia State University, Uturu, Professor Godwin Emezue has appreciated God for not allowing him to die inside the den of kidnappers.
Emezue, who gave the appreciation at Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia during a thanksgiving event put together by the Umuahia South branch of Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International, in collaboration with office of the Chief of Staff, Abia State government house, said that his eleven days in the captivity of kidnappers was a terrible experience he would not like to remember.
The DVC said that those who kidnapped him severally threatened to kill him if he did not provide their demands.
He said that his faith in the ability of God to rescue him alive remained strong throughout the eleven days travails.
He specifically thanked Governor Alex Otti for his commitment in saving his life and appreciated his wife, Kate Emezue and the Emezue family for their prayers and untiring efforts in saving his life.
Emezue also thanked his colleagues in Abia State University, members of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International and the Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia for their their efforts.
In his speech, the Chief of Staff to Governor Alex Otti, Caleb Ajagba while thanking God for saving the Deputy Vice Chancellor, said that those who trust in their God would overcome challenges that come their way.
Emezue was in January 2024 kidnapped by hoodlums in Umuahia while fueling his car.
He was freed from captivity after spending eleven days in the kidnappers den.
Governor Alex Otti while briefing Abia people early in April, announced that the principal suspect who kidnapped the Deputy Vice Chancellor was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while fleeing overseas.
The Governor added that the second suspect in the matter was also apprehended in Port Harcourt.
