The President of the Igueben Area Customary Court, Precious Aigbonoga who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on her way to work has been rescued by the Edo State Police Command,.but a policeman lost his life.
The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the rescue of the court president, said that Mrs Precious Aigbonoga was rescued by soldiers and policemen who combed the forest where the Aigbonoga was kept and she was successfully rescued.
A source who spoke to newsmen about the latest incident revealed that though the court president was rescued, she sustained some bullet wounds in the process of her rescue and a policeman was killed during the process. The source said,
“The gunmen killed a policeman and shot the court president but she has reunited with her family.”
The source stated that after the rescue of the kidnapped victim, she was quickly rushed to an undisclosed hospital and she is currently responding to treatments.
Also, the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin branch, commended security agencies for the operation. In a press statement, the Publicity Secretary of the association, Festus Usiobaifo, expressed sadness that a policeman lost his life in the incident.
