Aaron Carter’s older brother Nick, and twin sister, Angel, posted their first public statements following Carter’s tragic death in tributes posted to Instagram Sunday.
Carter’s death was confirmed by a representative Saturday after law enforcement officials released that deputies responded to his California home and found a “deceased” person. A cause of death has not been revealed.
Angel Conrad, his twin, was the first of Carter’s siblings to release a public statement, posting several photos of him from childhood to her Instagram. She said that she loved her brother “beyond measure.”
“My funny, sweet Aaron, I have so many memories of you and I, and I promise to cherish them,” Conrad wrote. “I know you’re at peace now. I will carry you with me until the day I die and get to see you again.”
Nick Carter posted shortly after his younger sister, saying that his heart was broken. Despite what he called a “complicated” relationship with his younger brother, Nick Carter said he has always loved him.
“I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed,” he wrote. “Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.”
He ended his statement saying he hoped his younger brother would now have a chance to have the “peace you could never find here on earth.”
